James Mark

James Mark, AIA, LEED AP, is Managing Director, Private Markets, and Chief Strategy Officer for Wight & Company, an integrated design and delivery firm organized around architecture, planning, engineering, construction management, transportation services, and industry leadership innovating sustainable solutions.

Personable, meticulous, and hard-working, James is a longtime member of Wight’s executive leadership with responsibility for the firm’s strategic growth and its private-market expansion. He is a hands-on, start-to-finish collaborator personally committed to surpassing clients’ project design and delivery goals through exemplary communication and time-and-money-saving project management – to create positive impacts on the community and environment. His professional portfolio includes award-winning work across Commercial, Corporate, Civic, Education, and Transportation markets, and well over 100 Wight projects.

James is also known throughout the City of Chicago and suburban communities for his leadership and chairmanship on the boards of regional nonprofits in vital social services, environmental protection, land economics and community development, including the Chinese American Service League, Chicago Central Area Committee, Choose DuPage, DuPage Foundation, Friends of the Chicago River, Naperville Heritage Society Board, and the Will County Center for Economic Development. He also has served and supports organizations such as Alzheimer’s Association, American Institute of Architects, City of Chicago Community Development initiatives, LAI International Ely Chapter, the Metropolitan Planning Council, Morton Arboretum, NCTV17, and World Business Chicago/Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership (GCEP).
