Bob Newport

Bob Newport joined MPC in September 2016, and has been engaged primarily in work on water resources. Among his areas of focus are stormwater management, watershed planning, funding/ financing for water infrastructure and operations, and environmental ordinances. Prior to working for MPC Newport worked in the Chicago Office of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In positions with EPA Newport worked with states and local units of government, planning agencies and regional sewer districts on stormwater management and combined sewer overflow programs. He led work in the Midwest related to the use of green infrastructure practices for capturing wet weather flows. He also worked closely with states on Water Quality Standards, Total Maximum Daily Load analyses and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits. Earlier Newport worked in the private sector managing environmental audits and environmental compliance systems. Newport earned a bachelor’s in public administration from Roosevelt University, a bachelor’s in economics from Northwestern University and a master’s in urban planning and policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
