The Role of Media in Building a Better Chicago, with Chicago Sun-Times CEO Edwin Eisendrath and columnist Mary Mitchell

Register Today

Earlier this year, it seemed almost inevitable that Chicago would become a one-newspaper town. The Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Reader were up for sale, which Tronc, Inc. (the parent company of the Chicago Tribune) was poised to buy. Edwin Eisendrathnative Chicagoan, former Alderman and HUD official, former technology and consulting executive, and now CEO of the Chicago Sun-Timesled the effort to protect Chicago’s two-paper status.

Though the media landscape is cut-throat, the role of journalism is now more important than ever to uncovering news and telling the critical stories of communities and residents. Join Edwin Eisendrath, CEO of the Sun-Times, and columnist Mary Mitchell who will share their insights about the future of media and the role it can play in building better cities.

Doors open at 5 p.m. The program will begin at 5:30 p.m., with time to mingle before and after. The cost of the event is $15, which includes snacks, wine, and beer. Space is limited, so please register in advance.
