About Us
We are MPC
MPC is an independent planning and policy organization serving the Chicago region. Through collaborative models we generate community-informed ideas about critical built environment issues like housing, sustainability, transportation, and public systems. Everything we do is in the interest of more equitable futures for every person who calls this place home.
Redefining change
At MPC, the built environment is more than steel and asphalt.
It is accessible, affordable housing. It is safe streets that make room for bikes and pedestrians. It is robust and reliable mass transit. The built environment is healthy and accessible rivers, safe drinking water for all, and green infrastructure that protects us from flooding. It is also the inclusive and equitable government systems and processes that make progress possible.
We are building equity into all these things, because the built environment belongs to all of us, giving shape to the future we all share.
Where you’ll find us
Rivers and public transit are shared resources. The housing crisis affects us all. And climate change pays no attention to the lines we draw on our maps. MPC works across borders, seeking regional solutions, because that is how progress is made. You will find us at work in the City of Chicago and the seven counties that comprise the greater Chicago region: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will.
