MaryAnn McGovern

MaryAnn (she/they) is a Research Assistant at Metropolitan Planning Council, where she supports research and analysis in regional transportation issues. She holds a Master of Arts in Sustainable Urban Development and a Graduate Certificate in Metropolitan Planning and Development from DePaul University. While studying at DePaul, she participated in the Chaddick Institute Scholars Program and served as a Steans Center Graduate Fellow. Her research has centered on the intersections of transportation equity, transit accessibility, housing affordability, and urban design. She previously worked with the Chicago Department of Transportation’s Division of Planning and Policy as a student intern.
Endlessly fascinated by designing movement through space, MaryAnn spent the first thirteen years of her professional life as a dancemaker in Chicago and Seattle. She brings this perspective on movement, place, design, and human experience to her work in planning and policy.
