Donovan Harvey

Donovan Harvey (he/him) joined MPC as Housing Manager in August 2024. In his role, Donovan bridges MPC’s housing research and technical assistance work to advance the organization’s housing policy agenda.

Prior to MPC, Donovan was a research analyst and then associate at the Urban Institute’s Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center. At Urban, Donovan conducted applied policy research related to affordable rental housing and equitable development. His core focus was shared and de-commodified housing – centering questions of tenant and community ownership.

Born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Donovan spent three years at Hofstra University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, concentrating in public policy. During this time, Donovan was inducted into the Pi Kappa Delta national forensics honor society, winning a world championship in parliamentary debate at the 2019 International Forensics Association Annual Tournament in Berlin, Germany.

Donovan then completed his Master of Public Policy at the University of Chicago – Harris School of Public Policy. During this time, he served on the executive board of OutPolitik!, an LGBTQ+ policy organization, and was a founding board member of the University of Chicago Black Graduate Coalition.

Donovan currently lives in Edgewater – where he can probably be found on the lakefront biking, playing tennis, or reading on the beach.
