Thomas Bamonte

Thomas Bamonte joined MPC as a Senior Advisor in August 2023. In that role he will draw on several decades of experience in transportation law and planning to assist MPC transportation and environmental initiatives.

 A graduate of the University of Chicago and Northwestern University School of Law, Thomas spent a decade doing corporate law and litigation and then joined the City of Chicago Law Department. From there he served as Deputy General Counsel of the Chicago Transit Authority and General Counsel of the Illinois Tollway. In 2011 he moved to Dallas to join the North Texas Tollway Authority as General Counsel. He then created and built the transportation technology and innovation program at the North Central Texas Council of Governments, the MPO for Dallas-Fort Worth. That experience helped him understand the promise and limitations of emerging transportation technologies and business models.

Thomas is glad to return to Chicago. He is passionate about making our region accessible and safe for active transportation by people of all ages and circumstances.
