Maggie Catania
Maggie joined MPC as an Allard Fellow in April 2018. She supports the organization’s Municipal Capacity Building and Water Delivery agendas, with an emphasis on improving the quality of life for people in marginalized suburban communities.
Prior to MPC, Maggie managed planning projects in Northwest Indiana and Chicago for Alliance for the Great Lakes, supporting communities as they developed solutions to legacies of industrial toxins and disinvestment. Maggie recently earned a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Previously, she developed and directed community-based youth programs on Chicago’s west side. In those programs, Maggie supported young people as they developed solutions to problems in their communities; the potential to scale this approach drove her to graduate school and urban planning.
Maggie lives in Humboldt Park with her kids, her sister and her sister’s kids.
