Abaki Beck

Abaki Beck is the Executive Assistant, providing support to the President, Board and Vice President for Philanthropy. Prior to joining MPC in March 2017, Abaki worked as the Primary Researcher for a food sovereignty project on the Blackfeet Reservation. The research resulted in a report and youth-focused pamphlet aimed to preserve elder knowledge of traditional foods, educate tribal members and improve community health.

After earning a B.A. in American Studies with honors from Macalester College in 2015, Abaki was an Udall Foundation Congressional Intern in the office of Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D-MN). She was soon after hired as a full time staffer, providing administrative and legislative assistance on health, education, and Native American policy. Abaki currently serves on the first ever Tribal Youth Health Advisory Board to the National Indian Health Board, assisting with policy and programming initiatives to ameliorate health care disparities for Native Americans across the nation.

In her spare time, Abaki is the founder and editor of POC Online Classroom, a website that curates social justice readings, resources, and syllabi. She is enrolled in the Blackfeet Nation of Montana. Abaki was born in Chicago, raised in Montana and currently resides in Lakeview.
