Lillie Sellers

Lillie Sellers

Lillie joined MPC in 2006, to advance public-private partnerships for workforce housing opportunities in metropolitan Chicago. Lillie provides support and technical assistance to the nonprofit housing agencies that counsel employees participating in employer-assisted housing (EAH) programs. She partners with local real estate professionals and lending institutions on EAH outreach and coordination. Lillie is also focused on developing new areas of EAH counseling coverage and increasing EAH opportunities throughout the region, targeting anchor institutions and business and community development corridors.

In addition to encouraging and supporting strategies for people to live near their work, she works on related employer engagement strategies which aim to help people get to and from work more effectively and without driving alone—no matter where they live. Through several MPC initiatives, including Commute Options, Bus Rapid Transit, and Interjurisdictional Collaboration, Lillie works with employers to provide benefits and information to employees about their housing and transportation options.

Prior to joining MPC, Lillie was a homeownership consultant for Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of Chicago, where she worked directly with Chicago families to help them achieve their homebuying goals. She presented weekly homeownership education courses, counseled clients one-on-one, and saw hundreds of buyers through the process of becoming successful homeowners. While at NHS, Lillie managed the Employer Assisted Housing Program for the University of Chicago/ University of Chicago Medical Center, counseling 500 employees and helping more than 150 of them purchase homes near work.

Lillie is a native of Arlington, Virginia. In 2001, she moved to Chicago to join Public Allies Chicago, an AmeriCorps program, and became a Chicagoan in a snap. She resides in South Shore with her husband and son.
