Nick Villarreal

Nick Villarreal joined MPC in November 2020 as a Research Fellow. In his role, he supports the Research team with data analysis and visualization. Nick holds previous experience parsing through data and pairing a narrative lens to his findings, with emphasis in researching urban flooding in Chicago and social impacts of climate change in Colorado.

Before MPC, Nick received a B.A. in Environmental and Urban Studies from the University of Chicago. His studies largely focused on sustainable urbanism, pulling from public policy, history, and architecture. His research focused on quantitative issues like the impact of climate change on the health of Coloradans and qualitative issues like placemaking in Chicago’s Little Village.

Native to Los Angeles, Nick’s love for Chicago grew during his undergraduate studies and now resides in West Town. He spends his time cooking, caring for houseplants, and walking around the city. Nick is most excited for live music and late nights at dive bars with friends after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nick’s pronouns are He/Him/His.
