Kristi DeLaurentiis

Kristi DeLaurentiis joined the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) in 2000, and is government relations director. She promotes MPC throughout northeastern Illinois and northwest Indiana as a collaborative community partner that conducts research, provides local technical assistance, educates the public and decision makers, and advocates for policy change. She acts as liaison to communities and leaders throughout the region on issues and policy relating to transportation, environment, housing, technology, and economic development.

Kristi frequently addresses business, civic and community groups about revitalization and economic, transit-oriented and sustainable development. She helps connect local leaders with the tools and market-based strategies they need to overcome growth challenges, share lessons learned and implement best practices.

She is a member of the Board of Trustees for Governors State University, and serves on Illinois’ Digital Divide Elimination Advisory Committee, Illinois Universities Civil Service Merit Board and the Illinois Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society. She has been a member of Illinois’ Nature Preserve Commission and General Assembly’s Citizen Council on Women. Prior to joining MPC, Kristi was a consultant on legislative matters, and interned with the Illinois Director of Natural Resources and the Environment. She is active in a number of local business and government associations and grew up in the southern suburbs. She currently lives with her family in Lansing.
